The Morton Grove Park District was established in 1951, in an effort to provide quality parks and recreation services to the rapidly growing community of Morton Grove, which had begun growing at breakneck speed following WWII and the establishment of the Edens Expressway. The relationship between the Park District and the Historical Society was cemented in 1984, after the Park District offered up a parcel of land in Morton Grove’s beautiful Harrer Park on which the Haupt Yehl House Museum could be established.
