The "Doughboy" monument has been an iconic site in Morton Grove since 1921 when the first Morton Grove Days carnival was held by the Women's War Working Circle to raise funds to commission the statue and purchase the land it sits upon today. The exhibit will share artifacts and history of the war that the United States entered in 1917. Besides period artifacts, information about the 43 men from Morton Grove who served in the war and copies of their draft cards are on display. More information about the war including backgrounds of the sinking of the Lusitania, Victory Gardens, Liberty Bonds, Non-Europeans Role in the war, Flu Epidemic of 1918 and more are also a part of the exhibit.
